Chanel Les Délices de Chanel Collection Illusion d'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Convoitise

The last piece from Chanel's Les Délices de Chanel Collection I swatched at Saks Fifth Avenue was Illusion d'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Convoitise (#90, $36). When I started looking for it online, I became a little confused about whether it is exclusive to the collection. My reason? I found it at a Chanel Web site. Turns out that's an Asian Web site. I got suspicious when I saw the eye shadow quad. This shade was an Asia exclusive, so once I realized I was on a site for Singapore, my confusion departed. Pfew!

The moment I saw Convoitise, I was taken with it. I love gold eye shadows. This one is sheer and subtle. It's love.

Illusion d'Ombre, enlivened with golden, bronze, and platinum reflections, offers iridescent and luminous shades to style your eyes to the extreme or simply caress them with a halo of pearly particles.

I didn't have a brush with me when I was swatching, so I used a sponge-tipped applicator, making sure I got enough product on my arm (I thought) to show the beautiful gold. I took my photos outside the store in blazing sunshine. I tried - I really tried - to get photos that didn't showcase the veins in my arm, but it was impossible. Sorry!

What you can see is that this gold is very sheer, subtle, like a wash of a shimmering watercolor. I looks a whole lot better on my eyelids than it does on my arm. Imagine painting your lids with a gold that looks almost liquid. That's Convoitise.

I'll admit these photos deserve a failing grade. I would go back for a do-over except that the products are in Maryland, and I'm in Virginia - and I don't have time today to go back. Besides that, it's cloudy and predicted to rain.

Convoitise is a beautiful eye shadow, one worthy of a look-see. The light, long-lasting, silky, and powdery cream texture makes application a pure delight. I hope to purchase it. When I do, I'll feature it again. I'll take photos in my home environment when I can control the timing and environment of the photography.

What would I like to have from Les Délices de Chanel? Délicatess, Friandise, and this beautiful eye shadow.

The collection is exclusive to Saks Fifth Avenue. If you need help from a Saks store, give the wonderful gals at Saks Chevy Chase a call at (240) 497-5363. I understand that shipping is free if you use a Saks credit card.

Stunning!!! I adore this type of gold, not too warm and doesn't scream gold.

This will be in the Jeux de Regards collection which all USA Chanel counters will receive... along with the Apparition Illusion d'Ombre, USA formulations of Fascination & Seduction quads, but only one new stylo yeux waterproof in Bleu Exquis.

Actually this shade was released in Europe in February along with two quads...

Yeah, Anonymous, on the earlier posts, readers have let us know that. We are all jealous. :)

Understated and beautiful. I love such gold eyeshadows that add a bit of colour and sheen but not too much bling and are not too garish. This is just perfect. I anyway love gold and bronze shadows coz they go well with my warm colouring.

This is such a lovely colour, although I found it a bit similar to Apparence to be honest. I wish Chanel would release some more different colours. Including Vision this is the third gold shade. I would have loved to see Destination or Riviere released here in the Netherlands. Well, maybe someday...
The Fascination quad is quite stunning, I think you will love it! Claudia

You're too hard on yourself with regard to photo quality! I can always judge the colors better after I've seen your swatches, so you must be doing it right!!

I ordered Friandise right after I saw it swatched on your arm! I can't pass on any coral Chanel lipgloss! Now I am wondering why I didn't add this golden beauty to my cart as well. Darn it! Kim

So I have a little info regarding the chanel special for nordstrom anniversary. They are doin a travel brush set, a chance hair mist and a 5 oz bottle of chance perfume. They decided to forgo any color exclusives because last year's anniversary special which was last years Asia exclusive apparently bombed.

Charlestongirl said...

Wow, Anahita! Color bombed? The offer you just described sounds like a snoozer to me. How about you?

Charlestongirl said...

True, JoanneP, that's one reason I like to so much.

Thanks, trhoades.

Hi Dollie, I think a lot of us are going for this one. It's elegant, I think.

Charlestongirl said...

You are right, Claudia, several golds. At last they are all different. :)

Thank you, MamaVal, but I really hated this batch of photos. There's something about the blazing sun outside Saks (all that asphalt?) that makes every mark on my arm show up. I wonder if I went later in the day if I'd get better photos there.

Kim, I think you'll have to find an excuse to re-order. :)

Me too. I'm definitely passing on Chanel's offerings for Nordstrom anniversary. That'll leave me more money for chanel fall which shipped on Monday.

hi charleston girl!! i'm wondering if this collection will be featured at nordstrom's "biggie sale" near fall (is that their anniversary sale)? anyway, i think i will skip this and wait for fall...my local beauty specialist said fall will be on counters end of june!!! can you believe it?? anyway, i finally found some makeup that i really like. i hope it's ok to post this....i'm loving the envolee glossimer from summer collection and, moon river!! however, i need a crease color and liner with it. i don't think it's perfect but boy do i love the convenience and ease of application. i think the gloss alone is gorgeous and long lasting. and, chantecaille has had lots of "activity" on their website in terms of special. i bought the coral reef and shark pallette together as a special for world ocean day. i just opened everything up and was amazed about the generous sizes!! what gorgeous quads! i read somewhere that chanel is releasing a small collection based on two color schemes. i remember 1 was called "the browns" and the eyeshadow was called seduction (?). anyway, that will be my summer stuff until fall. if you have any suggestions on how you wear mmon river , please let me know! thankyou for all your fabulous and wonderful posts!!! xxxxxxxxx

Hi Charlestongirl,

That is truly a lovely and delicate gold. I'm hoping this is one I'll be able to wear. Illusion D'Ombre is hit or miss for me. Some of the colors make my lids itch whereas others don't give me any trouble at all. Here's hoping this golden glimmer will be one of the latter.

Hi Trhoades,

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the Jeux de Regards collection. I'm thrilled that Fascination will be released in the US formulation. I had been praying to the makeup gods to make it so :-)

For anyone who hasn't seen the collection, Chic Profile posted promo pictures and info about it in January. Fascination is a sophisticated set of blues that I can hardly wait to try. Because they are muted, I don't think my age will be a problem ;-)

Hi Anahita,

Thanks for the info about Nordstrom's Chanel anniversary offering. I agree with Charlestongirl. It sounds like a real snooze-fest.

Hi Wendy,

The Chanel collection to which you're referring is the Jeux de Regards collection which was released internationally beginning in February. It's been very late in making its way to the US, but if we're going to get the quads in the US formula (as was reported by Trhoades in the comments above), it will be worth the wait. You can see all the promo pictures of it on Tavia's blog, Chic Profile. Just type Jeux de Regards in the Search box.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in July. The Asian exclusive went to Saks this year. Anahita told us what Chanel/Nordstrom would be offering in the comments above.

Thanks to your posts, I trotted over to Saks and picked up the Delicatesse quad (I can't thank you enough for your review, I would have missed this), the gorgeous aqua lip gloss in 82 (your fave and mine), rouge coco shine in gourmandise and illusoire d'ombre in convoitise. They are all stunners!

Beautiful color! I love the formula of the Illusion D'Ombres. I have the shade 86 Ebloui and I love it. That one shade makes me look like a put in a great effort on my eye makeup. I love it!
