The Friday Forum - January 15

It's that time again. The Friday Forum is devoted to what you have to say about anything related to beauty. Take that cat nap. Then, let's chat!

Are you using a fabulous product and want to sing its praises? Tell us about it! Did you find a beauty product disappointing? Tell us why! Do you have questions others might be able to answer? Ask! We will use the comments for what I always hope will be a fun and helpful exchange of information.

I have many posts to write, finish, or publish this weekend, including introductions to the new Armani and Dior cosmetics and a post on makeup nostalgia. I had a blast at Saks yesterday! Remember that our Bobbi Brown Honey Glaze Long-Wear Eye Palette giveaway contest deadline is tonight at midnight. If you want a chance to win, make sure to send that e-mail.

Can you even believe that Shiseido will buy Bare Escentuals? Leslie Blodgett will continue to lead the company. That breaking news was announced yesterday by the New York Times.

Back to the forum. Normally, I don't provide a Friday Forum topic or ask you a question to kick off the conversation. I always have beauty bits to share. I'll put them in the comments this weekend, so check for free shipping offers and other treats from beauty companies.

The microphone is yours!

I never got the hype about BE but i always thought the company is doing really well, considering how many devoted fans they have. I dont really see Shiseido and BE together- they seem so different!

On the other note, I have been trying different oils lately- olive oil, palm oil, argan oil. I really love argan oil and what it does to my skin. Non-greasy, unless I make a mistake and apply too much. It also calmed and healed my giant pimple, so I will continue using oil as a night treatment under my moisturizer.

Fun! There are some really cool products with argan oil in them. One is Josie Maran's. According to the description of her product, argan oil is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids and has many treatment benefits, including hydrating, nourishing, toning, and firming skin. It's gentle enough to use on all skin types and is believed to help with acne. I wish I had known this in the days when my skin developed the occasional blemish!

I have learned so much from your postings and trying various products. Luckily, my skin, although fair and delicate, tolerates and responds well to retinol - but I've also wanted antioxidants and vitamins in my daily treatment. Yesterday, I discovered what may be a new line from RoC, "Multi Correxion" and bought the serum. It contains retinol, antioxidants, and vitamin C. Layering that under a moisturizer with SPF, I feel like I'm really taking care of my aging skin. Thanks for the ongoing education!

Thank you, Bari! You are taking good care of your skin. Just make sure to add an eye cream to that regimen. And Kathy would say, wear a bust cream too. :) She's a big fan of one of the high-end drugstore brands.

i am very impressed with argan oil so far ( i have one from Melvita, a great organic company- worth to check out;). i had a giant painful zit on my cheek for about 3 weeks and it would not budge. my skin scars really easily and i was really worried about the marks. out of desperation i rubbed some argan oil on it 2 days ago. now my zit is gone, my skin is smooth and i just have a small red mark but it looks like it's healing nicely. i so wish i didnt wait for 3 weeks to try it out!

Anna, I told a friend about your experience today. I think she will be looking for argan oil for her daughter. Thanks for the great information!

i think it really helps with pimples as overnight treatment! the mistake i made in the beginning was to apply argan oil lightly- like with moisturizer. it was just sitting on top of my skin and making it look shiny. when i got my pimple i spent a few minutes massaging oil in my face and it really helped. my skin didnt look shiny at all but it felt moisturized.i still have a pink spot on my cheek but it's much lighter than it was yesterday!

Anna, where did you get the one you purchased - online or in a store? I see that Melvita is available at beauty.com. I may have to get some! Even without blemishes, I could use it for the anti-inflammatory properties.

here is direct link - i hope it's ok to post it here:

Also, yes, you can get one on beauty.com, skinbotanica.com (which is part of skincarerx.com). I heard that Melvita is going to be a part of L'Occitane soon- and my package did say L'Occitane on it even though i got it from Melvita's website. I would check out the main website- they have lots of other items and even organic honey! I dont think they have physical stores in US yet but they are a best selling brand in France as far as organic skincare goes. I sent my mom a handcream- will wait for her review too :)

I think Beautorium has Melvita too. I got started on a Beauty.com order last night, but it's out of stock!

yes, I read only good things of Josie's Argan oil as well. Btw, one of my old scars have faded completely after I used argan oil on it. At this point, I am using it not only overnight but in the morning as a moisturizer as well. It must be love :)
