Weekend Roundup - October 23

It's definitely autumn now. Our favorite beauty bloggers are reporting cold temperatures and the possibility of snow in the North and West. That ought to put everyone in the mood to shop! Here are a few features that might send you to the mall - or give you a reason to stay home and Web surf.

Let's start with Fab over Forty, where Kari shared an interview with Sandy Linter. The celebrity makeup artist shared her fall must-have beauty products for women over 40, but the products she recommended are fabulous for women of any age.

We all want the scoop on the best makeup brushes around. Gaia gave us a close look at the NARS #12 Small Domed Brush. Head over to The Non-Blonde to find out why you may need to buy this brush - and you can admire Sophie and Giselle at the same time. I can imagine the chaos if I were to let Charlie participate in makeup photo sessions. An example - yesterday he decide it was fun to knock lip glosses off the desk. They roll well.

Sabrina got in the holiday spirit with Dior. You'll see a few must-haves at The Beauty Look Book. Sometimes, the compact is as pretty as the makeup. So far, I've been able to resist the Minaudière, but I had no willpower when I saw the two new five-color compacts. You'll be seeing them here soon.

Kelly explained why Stila's Color Wheel is the perfect palette for young women just getting into makeup or those who want to start experimenting with colors outside of nudes and browns. Check out her swatches at Gouldylox Reviews. I got inspired and placed a big Stila order last night. Friday night shopping at its most fun!

At BeautyXposé, Chelsea showed us how to stay within TSA's super-strict rules about carry-on liquids and keep our hair looking great at the same time. Travel-sized products may not be the best value, but they are so handy.

Check out what the dueling bloggers has to say about LORAC this week at Beauty Info Zone Blog. Marcia and Lisa debated their favorite LORAC products - and they didn't even touch on my latest purchase.

Love shoes? Even the painful ones? DivaDebbi showed us Foot Petals. If you haven't tried them, where have you been? I've been wearing Foot Petals for years (I use the ones for the ball of the foot).

Carla showed us a Beauty VIP of the Week: Sue Devitt's Lip Intensifier Pencil. Find out why you may need one at Product Girl.

Whether you got Sephora's notice or not (I didn't, and I'm not happy about it), you need to shop Friends & Family. Get the scoop from Elvira at Pink Sith. I can't understand why Sephora would ignore their VIB's. Does the company take us for granted?

Vicki finished her Makeup for All Races video series at Makeup Artist Backstage with a contest to give you video makers a chance to win $950 worth of makeup.

Lianne at The Makeup Girl had the rundown on M∙A∙C's Holiday 2010 "A Tartan Tale." In the "olden days," before Escada went Hollywood, I bought every tartan collection the company released. Their clothes were so gorgeous then - and even affordable (well, as long as you had a fabulous salary). I'm a huge tartan fan, so I'll be headed out this weekend to see if there's anything I want that hasn't sold out. I'm not going to be swept into M∙A∙C hysteria again.

Here at Best Things in Beauty, we strolled through recent Armani, Guerlain, Trish McEvoy, Tarte, bareMinerals, Givenchy, and Bobbi Brown purchases. Just scroll down. There's more to come over the next few days. I need bright skies to get decent photos.

Please remember my giveaway contest for Bobbi Brown's Nude on Nude Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow Palette. The deadline is midnight tonight. One in-the-know reader (yes, you Val!) wanted to know where I found it. The fabulous Estée Lauder Companies outlet, The Company Store, gets makeup from all the brands, including Bobbi Brown, M∙A∙C, Clinique - sometimes just discontinued, sometimes overstocked, but always desirable. The discounts aren't huge, but I can't get out of that store without spending money.

Stay warm and happy! Thank you for visiting Best Things in Beauty.

I'm a VIB too, and I have not received an e-mail from Sephora either! Not very good customer relations/marketing! I think I'll e-mail them...

Hi Anonymous,

I've complained before - it does no good. I never got the fall catalog, so I waited two months and then asked for one. They hand addressed it and sent it.

I agree that the customer relations aspect of this is a debacle. The worst part is that it's not the first time.
